Try to be humble

Today's Meditation: Matthew 20:26.

“... whosoever will be great... let him be your minister”

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Matthew 20:25-27

25. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

26. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

27. And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

When the mother of Zebedee’s children desired that her two sons may sit one on the right hand and the other on the left hand of Jesus in His Kingdom, Jesus said unto her that she did not know what she was asking. She wanted her sons to occupy the best place. Many desire to be on the top even in God’s work but the LORD said, “He who wants to be great among you, let him be a servant.” Even the Son of man came in the form of a servant and to minister and finally to give His life as a ransom for many.

Today, dear child of God, always follow the example of your Master, the LORD Jesus Christ. He came down to this position on the earth but you and I being born on earth seek to desire those things that belong to God, like the mother of Zebedee’s children. Ambitions are good but in order to achieve the high position, you first need to be humble. The LORD showed an example in the Last Supper where He washed the feet of His disciples. They called Him as Master but He demonstrated the work of a slave.

Follow Jesus today that He might exalt you according to His will in due course. Surrender yourself to serve others rather than to be served. Learn to be humble always. Those who humble themselves shall be exalted. Be humble before God and man.

Prayer:Giveme a heart like Thine, LORD. Amen.

Thought: Great people start with a humble beginning.
