From the book of Nehemiah~~~~~circa 450 BC &
The jewish statesman Nehemiah, was the royal cupbearer of the Persian king Xerxes and this was a high position. Due to several messages from afar poor Nehemiah was downcast with a heavy burden on his heart. He was troubled about his people and the condition of Jerusalem. He was concerned about his heritage...so he prayed to the Lord God. He did not just cry but acted. The Lord heard Nehemiah and moved upon Xerxes and the king noticed the saddness of Nehemiah. Because of their speaking about the matter Xerxes decided to help Nehemiah in a project to rebuild the gates and walls of Jerusalem. With funds and permits Nehemiah and company traveled to Judea with determination to build and bring justice. The proper order of events would have to take place. After prayer and funding would come the inspection of the ruins in Judea. Next would come the planning and work to rebuild. And anytime in life when a person sets out to complete a good deed or project he or she will encounter both allies and adversaries. There will be people that will fight you tooth and nail wishing to defeat your good efforts. Nehemiah by both prayer and determination completed his task. And he overcame the many obstacles and enemies.
The life of Nehemiah, who led many returning exiles in repairing the walls of Jerusalem, exemplifies the genuine spirituality of practical faith in action. He illustrated for us a Godly dedication to doing what is right. He rebuilt the walls and helped to rebuild the hearts of his people. Today, in both England and America, we need more wall builders to restore our culture. This is something to consider.
