Reproaches rolled away
Today's Meditation: Joshua 5:9.
“... This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you...”
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Joshua 5:7-9
7. And their children, whom he raised up in their stead, them Joshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way.
8. And it came to pass, when they had done circumcising all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp, till they were whole.
9. And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.
When you are on a spiritual journey after accepting Christ, does the reproach of your old ways follow you or linger around you? Only the LORD can roll away your old reproach and deliver you completely.
In the days of Joshua, the children of Israel were circumcised the second time and when everybody had done it according to what God said, the LORD rolled away the reproach but after the LORD Jesus came into this world, He said he is the LORD of circumcision and through his shedding of blood, your reproach is removed and sins forgiven. The New Testament covenant is that you have to circumcise your heart of all that pertains to your old life. You have to cleanse your heart completely with the blood of Jesus and surrender yourself. When God sees your heart it should be pure and holy before Him. Then the angel of God will pass on without destroying you. When the angel of God saw the blood of the lamb on the door posts of the children of Israel, he passed on.
Today the wicked one cannot touch you if you are covered by the blood of Jesus Christ and your heart circumcised to follow Jesus sincerely. The LORD wants to remove your old reproach from you and set you free to follow Him. Will you circumcise your heart today?
Prayer: LORD, helpme to circumcisemy heart. Amen.
Thought: The heart’s circumcision is the present day’s need.
