I am so amazed by the fact that I wholeheartedly agree with the first lecture! I have been attempting to teach and preach the Word of God with all that Dr. McCarthy says. I have been reprimanded by some pastors because they say that I am getting too deep. I am giving too much information that is necessary. I have actually been cut off when I dealt with the culture, the time and events that happened during that time. I also want to know what heresies the apostles were dealing with. The writers of the epistles had a specific problem they were dealing with, and we need to know why the letter was written. This type of information will open a whole new understanding of why the author said those things. We must seek the Mind of God as we prepare to preach or teaching His Word. It is not our word, but the Divine Word of God.
Believe it or not, I have not finished the lecture. His first lesson is a confirmation of how I study the Word of God. It may seem tedious, but it is needful. My God has much to say to us, but we must approach it properly with prayer, reverence. We must set aside our preconceived notions.
I am pumped over this first lecture because I am right about how I teach and preach the Word of God! Wow! God is so good!
