When going through the storm, you can only rely on God because God is the only one that can fight our battles. We may go to others for advice, but the advice may not be guaranteed. That's why the Father says to only believe and trust in Him and He will deliver us through the storm and fight our battles for us. We don't need to believe others around us. There are many things that we hear that individuals say are right and is okay to do, but we know for ourselves that it is not right. Many fall short of following after others and their opinions. The keyword to that is OPINION. It is what THEY think. Not necessarily what we think or what we may go by. Sure society may have an opinion, but it may not be right. We know for ourselves and what it says in the Bible what we should do, so we should not worry about what others may say. We need to believe and trust in God and know that through Him, everything will come to pass. Through God, He lets us know which steps to take, and as long as we follow after Him and apply Him to our lives, then every step we take will be a Blessing. :)
