Enquire of God
Today's Meditation: II Chron.18:6.
“... is there not here a prophet of the LORD...”
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: II Chron.18:4-6
4. And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.
5. Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king's hand.
6. But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?
King Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, was asked by Ahab, King of Israel, to go with him to fight the battle. Though he agreed he said he wished to ask for God’s counsel before they ventured into the battle. Many prophets told him to go and fight and God would deliver them but Jehoshaphat knew that these were not telling the Word of God for they were false. He had discernment in him.
Many false prophets are seen in these last days who misguide even the elect of God but what should a child of God do? He or she should have the gift of discernment which only God can give to understand whether God speaks through them. Jehoshaphat asked the king of Israel to bring a prophet of the LORD so that they could enquire of him.
In these last days enquire of God’s Word either in your personal prayers, completely committing yourself to God’s will or look out for God’s servants or his prophets who have God’s Word in them and who are sent by God. They will guide you to the perfect will of God. Inquire of God before you do something and secondly enquire only from those anointed true servants of God, then you will be led to God’s will. God will perfect that which concerneth you. Ask for the gift of the discernment of the spirit from God.
Prayer: LORD, let Thy Spirit inme discern the good from the evil. Amen.
Thought: Only true servants of God can hear His voice.
