Closeness with God

Today's Meditation: Genesis 24:63.

“... Isaac went out to meditate in the field...”

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Genesis 24:61-63

    61. And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

    62. And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country.

    63. And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels  were coming.

Though Isaac, the son of Abraham, was an heir to the richness of blessings that God gave to his father Abraham, he did not take those blessings for granted. He did not misuse the blessings of his father. He did not think he had everything and that there was no necessity for him to look unto God. Isaac kept in touch with God. He wanted to follow the footsteps of his father. He would have seen his father in meditation plenty of times and he knew the secret of meditation. In the evening time instead of spending his time with his fellowmen, he chose to be in God’s presence in meditation.

Though you come from a family of people who pray and meditate, are you like them? Will you search your heart? Have you drifted away from the testimony of your parents and grandparents? May be that is why your life is in agony now. Jesus is calling you once again to continue the relationship which He had with your parents and grandparents.

Come closer to God and spend your time in meditation. Do not waste time in vain talk and do not go to unwanted places. Make use of every second in your life to glorify God. The time lost can never be got again. Make use of every opportunity given by God for time is precious. God will bless you and you shall see His manifestations in your life.

Prayer: LORD, Iwill walk closer and closer to Thee. Amen.
