Double anointing

Today's Meditation: II Kings 2:9.

“... let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: II Kings 2:7-9

7. And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.

8. And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided here and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

9. And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said to Elisha, Ask what I shall do for you, before I be taken away from you. And Elisha said, I pray you, let a double portion of your spirit be on me.

A time came when Elijah was to be taken away. He asked his servant Elisha what he wanted from him. Elisha replied that he wanted a double portion of the Spirit of God that was on Elijah. He never wanted any of the earthly blessings or a name or fame that the man of God, Elijah, had. The young Elisha’s mind was focussed on the anointing of God and the measure of the Spirit that was on his master Elijah.

As a child of God or servant of God, what are you seeking today and what is your desire? What did Jesus say? Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all other things shall be added unto you. Elisha sought the kingdom of God and God blessed him and used him to perform miracles and wonders much more than his master Elijah.

God wants to use you today and to stand in the gap to deliver people from bondage, poverty, sickness and pronounce salvation for them. Let your mind be fixed only on pleasing God and not on the earthly blessing of the world. Ask God today for His favour. Tell God that you need the mighty anointing of the Holy Spirit so that you will be useful for His Kingdom and people who see you will see Jesus in your life. God will bless your desire to have a double portion of anointing and you shall be blessed.

Prayer: LORD, anoint mewith Thymighty infilling Spirit. Amen.
