Who were the Magi?
Note: Please forgive me for not being specific for
giving a full citing of the material gathered here. My Bibliographer tool is not working right.
Before we can properly study the visit of the Magi to Jesus' birthplace, we need to know who these men were. The wise men probably came from Persia or…

I was appalled to find that Joyce Meyers and others are living in the lap of luxury! The Bible says that we must be content in the place where we find ourselves. When we put on the righteousness of God, it includes living a humble life. We are not to entangle ourselves in the things of this world. We cannot serve God and mammon. We will either love one and hate the other.
We must stand up for truth in these last and evil days. We must show the world the righteousness of God in our…

The enemy of our soul is going after future generations of believers. He is deliberately bringing about the death of this great generation. At first, it was teenagers and college students. Now it is children five and six years. Those who will never discover the wondrous work of the Father. Those who will never discover who they are meant to be instruments of righteousness in the kingdom of God. Their voice has been silenced by death. Yet God…

Marriage is not to be entered into with haste. There must a time of reflection, consideration along with serious meditation of what two people are getting into. If we are to enter into it with the solemnity that is required by God, then it must be entered into with care and caution. The "falling in love" part is one of the joys of marriage. More importantly, it must be entered into with God as our guide. It is to be entered into with humility considering the fear…

It seems as though dis-ease is taking a gripping hold on the world. Some are as a result of the weather while others are re-introduction of various viruses. The flue season comes, and its a new strain. A strain of the flu is always coming out. The flu shot has lost its punch because of the "new strain." Will we allow such "fear" to grip us during these days and times? No! Our hope and confidence is found in Jesus Christ! Remember when Israel was protected when Egypt was under attack…

I am watching the 5:00 p.m. news here in Shallotte. Because of a change in the production of milk and the increase of demand, we may be paying up to $7.00/gallon of milk!
Another sign of the times...be ready for the Coming of the Messiah.
His coming is closer than you think! Look to the sky--for His appearance is near!

SuperStormSandy, new diseases, new strains of diseases, rain and snow happening in America in different times. Volcanoes erupting. Wars and rumors of wars. Fighting and rioting in the streets. The new president making himself above the law--leads to riots in the streets. Starvation, sexual slaves in America too! Political upheaval here in America! Pestilence, famine, destruction of crops. Prices and taxes increasing!
In order to get through it, you must lean heavier on the Lord--He…

Matthew 7:7-8 (New American Standard Bible (1995 Update))
[7] "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. [8] "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
These verses are found in the closing chapter of Jesus'…

The Model Prayer
Part One
Matthew 6:7-15 (New American Standard Bible (1995 Update))
[7] "And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. [8] "So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you…

2 Timothy 2:14-19 is the foundation of this portion of the research. The writer will be using scriptures from the NASB Updated Version 1995. Verse 14--strive about words--These groups are a representation of early false teachers who brought dissension instead of knowledge to the church of their time. They used human reason to distort the Word of God. Note that this is only foolishness. (…

For all that is going on in the world, wouldn't you think that people would turn to God? It is just not a history-making hurricane, but a call to repentance and seeking forgiveness. Homes were torn apart, and lives changed. An event that will never be forgotten--especially in New York City.
People's homes have been destroyed, and they will never forget. For some, nothing will ever be the same. Where will their heart be when it comes to loyalty and possessions.
What should…

I am left in awe and silence concerning this series. I am silenced by the power and responsibility of this calling on my life. I thought I was doing it correctly, but I have found that I have fallen short in many areas.
Preaching the "good news" of Jesus Christ must never be taken lightly. We cannot just "preach" an event like the three Hebrew boys without introducing and discussing the background of those verses. We cannot ignore the customs of the land of captivity. We cannot…

I am so very glad that I completed Lecture 9 of Expository Preaching. It truly enlightened me concerning God’s Word. There is more to preaching than reading the text, and running with just the story or event in the scripture. It is one thing to tell the details, and it is another thing to discuss the time, the season, the people, the culture, etc. I may have said that earlier, but I want to reiterate here. Illustrations are meant to illustrate—not to give an example of scriptural…

As I listened to Lecture 9 of Expository Preaching, I found that when I first started preaching, I was off the mark. I preached the story, and not the nuggets of gold hidden beneath the surface of the Written Word. I skirted easily over the essence of the event. Maybe I didn't even "skirt" over it. I added my own view instead of the intention of the author. Wow! Maybe the answer to my prayer was answered. I asked the Lord is that all there is to preaching God's Word? I wanted more to…

Tony Evans brings out an important point concerning “expositional preaching.” He says that expositional preaching “tethers” the individual to the scripture. Maybe “boiling the scripture down” may be an insult to some speakers. I believe that this phrase is just another way of saying what is being taught. When this is done, the setting, the culture, the word study, etc. must be done. There is no way of getting around these important parts. If it is done correctly, there will be spiritual…

There is much I wish to discuss with you. I gained a greater and deeper appreciation concerning expository preaching. I have narrowed it down to the lack of expository preaching. I decided to write about this lesson from my heart. The lack of this method of teaching and preaching creates individuals who are “surface” believers. The message is one that touches skims along the edges and minor surface of the scriptures. The new believer receives the Word as taught by the leader, but is not…

When developing a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, we have the opportunity to express our personal needs. I am not saying that we should ask for a car, or a new wife, but our necessary needs. Some will say that they need a new car. Your present car may not work for you. This is an acceptable truth.
I am talking about developing a relationship with Jesus based upon prayer. He desires to communicate with you, and you want to hear from Him. Jesus has so much that He wants…

I was listening to Lesson 1 about Prayer. The professor said that people do not think they have the time to pray during the day. They are so busy. They claim their days are very busy. We need to make time in our agenda for prayer. Prayer is important even today.
I living in an assisted living facility. Not everyone knows and serves the Lord here. They complain from sun up to…
