Is Fasting 'Christian'?
On my website, one of our dear ladies, Lisa Schultz, posted a blog titled Is Fasting Christian? Here is Jake's response that I thought I would share with you. Reply by Jake Baker It is so good to study and meditate on the things of Yahweh and what a blessing it is to have brothers and sisters in the LORD who are digging deep into the Word to find truth in all things, including our daily walk. This passage is such a passage of freedom and removes from us such a burden in knowing that we can…

Lessons of Courage
When we read about the courage demonstrated by the characters of the Bible, we are inspired to step ahead with courage. As suggested one time in our First United Methodist Newsletter, imagine you lived like Daniel. As he faced the lions, the only weapon he had was prayer. That was enough for him because of his self-discipline to live boldly and courageously for God.…

Does God Really Forgive Me Of My Past? Is It Important That I Forgive Those That Have Hurt Me? part 2 message delivered 3/31/13
Good morning friends and family, and a very blessed Resurrection Sunday to you! I had thought and prayed on what to teach on this week, whether it should be a message on the Resurrection of Jesus, or continue this series that we started last week. When we think of why Jesus was resurrected, forgiveness plays a major part of God’s plan. We want to welcome everyone to part two of a series we are doing on forgiveness. Last week we looked into part of the life of King…

Does God Really Forgive Me Of My Past? Is It Important That I Forgive Those That Have Hurt Me?
Good morning my friends. Today we are going to go in yet another direction. Some hearing this may start to squirm in their seats. Some may decide not to read this at all, but before you make that decision, I pray that you would let the Holy Spirit speak to your heart. Amen?
This has been an…

God’s Perfect Plan For You part 2
Good morning friends and family and welcome to today’s message. Last Sunday I asked everyone to think about their walk with God during that week. I would ask you to do that again this week. In a sentence or two, write down how your walk with God went this past week. Could you feel Him right…

Steps to Take
In my study of applying our faith, I wrote the poem below:
Steps to Take
Start each day out right
Each morning see the light
Tell God your need
He will help to proceed
Pray with confidence
And expect assistance
Listen for instructions
Then take actions
If plans need adjustment
Pray even more fervent
Know that He is with you
All the way…

Faith Built on Prayer
I have been writing recently about applying our faith. The greatest example of the use of applied faith is found in the life of Jesus. The basis of Christianity is faith and is built up by prayer. Like a seed planted in fertile soil, prayer mixed with faith gives growth to all good plans or ideas. Faith gives life, power, and action to prayers. It is the start of greatness and the chemical or element which, when mixed with prayer, gives one direct communication with God. When Jesus was…

Strong Leaders
After reading 1 Chronicles 13-14, what is found is that David conferred with each of his officers, sought unity with his people and most of all inquired of God who goes before us to prepare the way; building up our life with positive principles found in His Word. Prayer, reflection, and action will develop strong leaders for better families, communities, and nations.
I really enjoy growing in the Lord with you and sharing videos that hopefully bless and uplift. I’d like to share this…

The First Responder's Prayer
Although I have posted this before over the years, I feel a special burden to re post this tonight. For some reason it is important to get it into wide distribution, and for some reason known only to God it has to be tonight. Below is my THE FIRST RESPONDER'S PRAYER. This is the same prayer that Loree Lough included in all three novels of her First Responders Series. I'm told it has also graced many police and fire station walls around the country.
The First Responders…

Sermon Notes: There are No Atheists in Foxholes
THE FOLLOWING ARE PASTOR CRUTCHFIELD'S SERMON NOTES FROM TODAY'S SERVICE AT COMPASSION CHURCH OF KATY.
This week I want to do something a little different. I want to share with you an illustration of how prayer, specifically being prayed for can get people through one of the toughest things a person can face. This story is from the summer issue of Leadership Journal a magazine we ministers read and comes from an article written by…
