THE LORD'S PRAYER

THE LORD'S PRAYER

I cannot pray "OUR," if my faith has no room for others and their need.

I cannot pray "FATHER," if I do not demonstrate this relationship to God in my daily living.

I cannot pray "WHO ART IN HEAVEN," if all of my interests and pursuits are in earthly things.

I cannot pray "HALLOWED BE THY NAME," if I am not striving for God's help to be holy.

I cannot pray "THY KINGDOM COME," if I am unwilling to accept God's rule in my life.

I cannot pray "THY WILL BE… Continue

GRACE

GRACE

The boy stood with back arched, head cocked back and hands clenched defiantly. "Go ahead, give it to me."

The principal looked down at the young rebel. "How many times have you been here?"

The child sneered rebelliously, "Apparently not enough."

The principal gave the boy a strange look. "And you have been punished each time have you not?"

"Yeah, I’ve been punished, if that's what you want to call it." He threw out his small… Continue

THROUGH CHILDREN'S EYES

THROUGH CHILDREN'S EYES

Too often we look at the outward appearance of someone and don't even give them a second glance. If only we could see people through children's eyes.

We were the only family with children in the restaurant. I sat Erik in a high chair and noticed everyone was quietly sitting and talking. Suddenly, Erik squealed with glee and said, 'Hi.' He pounded his fat baby hands on the high chair tray. His eyes were crinkled in laughter and his mouth was bared…

Why Do I Believe that the Bible is the Word of God?

Why Do I Believe that the Bible is the Word of God?

I believe the Bible is God's Word for ten reasons. Consider the following evidences:

1) The Bible's Oneness - The Bible contains sixty-six books written by over forty different writers from differing backgrounds over a span of two thousand years. Yet from Genesis to Revelation the Bible proclaims one truth, one plan of salvation, one code of ethics. Why? Because the Bible is the Word of God; a God who inspired and… Continue

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Matthew 5:44,45

TODAY'S TOUGH QUESTION:

The writers of the psalms seemed frequently to ask God for revenge against their enemies. Is it OK for us to pray for revenge?

Several of the psalms call upon God to take revenge on… Continue

The Book of Daniel

Daniel 1

Verses 1-7

Nebuchadnezzar in 606 BC besieged Jerusalem. He was able to successfully take the city via God’s will. Among many treasures he took many young Israelite men. Of those men, were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azaraih. These men according to Josephus were kin to Zedekiah.

The men were taken to serve the king of Babylon in his court. They were to be good looking and have a wide intelligence. They would be trained in many disciplines for 3…

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. Acts 2:22

As the crowds increased, Jesus said, "This is a wicked generation. It asks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. Luke 11:29

TODAY'S TOUGH QUESTION:

Some of Jesus' miracles seem a bit sensational. Why did he do them?

It… Continue

The Distinguishing Mark of a Christian

Before Jesus was born, the religious leaders of Israel had already decided what it meant to live righteously. They had developed a system contrary to Scripture based on self- righteousness generated by doing good works. When Jesus…

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." John 14:6,7

TODAY'S TOUGH QUESTION:

I have a friend who says he is a Christian, but is very liberal and doesn't seem to really "get it." How can I help him understand true Christianity?

The first thing you need to do is to pray for him. Then… Continue

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

There was a great uproar, and some of the teachers of the law who were Pharisees stood up and argued vigorously. "We find nothing wrong with this man," they said. "What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?"

Acts 23:9

TODAY'S TOUGH QUESTION:

In Acts 23, the Pharisees defended Paul. Why? I thought they were opposed to his message.

We normally think of Pharisees as opponents of Christians. But in Acts 23 they were Paul's allies… Continue

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost. Luke 10:10

TODAY'S TOUGH QUESTION:

Are unbelievers really lost? What happens to good people who never heard the good news?

Please don't shoot the messenger, but yes, unbelievers are lost. Scripture makes it clear that there is but one way to salvation,… Continue

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, Ephesians 4:11

TODAY'S TOUGH QUESTION:

What is the difference between spiritual gifts and natural talents?

Actually, there are a few important differences. Natural talents are from God but are transmitted through parents. Spiritual gifts come directly from God. (see 1 Corinthians 12:4 & Romans 12:3,6)… Continue
