Evangelical leaders in the United States are getting politically active again on behalf of illegal immigrants. Leaders from all over the U.S. gathered in Washington recently to lobby Congress to pass legislation aimed at offering them a path to citizenship.
There are 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States most of them Roman Catholic, but many of them evangelical. The evangelical leaders now join Roman Catholic bishops in pushing for a track to citizenship and a track to a vote for illegal immigrants. No doubt they all hope that the more Christian Latino voters there are, the better the chances of pushing through leaders and legislation in harmony with evangelical views. Also both parties want to cater to the growing Hispanic electorate who are increasingly vocal about their concerns.
Religion has increasingly become a dominate topic in American politics, and is always on the minds of politicians and voters alike. In the age of ecumenical cooperation, Rome stands to gain much more influence as Christian voters increase in numbers. Protestants are being drawn into cooperation with Rome on friendly terms for now.
“[Rome] is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men…” Great Controversy, page 581

Barack Obama became the first US president to say publicly he was in favor of same-sex marriage… Obama changed his stance, after previously saying he was “evolving” on gay marriage.
President Obama had supported strong protections for gay and lesbian couples, but in an apparent bid to garner support for his re-election campaign, Obama switched his position.
“I’ve just concluded, for me, personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama said in an interview with ABC News.
He said he had talked to his two daughters about it, and said “It wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ [gay] parents would be treated differently. It doesn’t make sense to them and frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective,” Obama said in the interview. He also observed gay couples in committed relationships and consulted with gay friends.
Vice President Joe Biden said on NBC’s Meet the Press that he was “absolutely comfortable” with same-sex marriage. Education Secretary Arne Duncan supported the concept too.
Recently, voters in North Carolina approved an amendment to the state constitution banning gay marriages, civil unions and domestic partnerships. Some 30 other states have approved similar measures.
In 2004, Obama said that for religious reasons he believed that marriage is between a man and a woman, but has been under a lot of political pressure from his political base on this issue, particularly from gay and lesbian groups. Then in 2010 he said that “my feelings are constantly evolving.”
Within 90 minutes of making the announcement, $1 million was contributed to his campaign, while a largely Hollywood crowd that usually supports gay marriage donated $13 million. A gathering at actor George Clooney’s house garnered $15 million.
While his position may also help the Romney campaign, Obama gives evidence that political winds sway his position to support perverse causes.
“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot…” Luke 17:28
Comment by Apostle Paul Johnson Asamoah on May 29, 2012 at 11:20pm Freedom Creating Kind of Truth
When you know something down in your knower, it is then it produces freedom. When you read this next scripture pay attention pay close attention to “knowing” the truth.
(Joh 8:31) Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed. (Joh 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
(Joh 8:36) If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
When you get into the Word of God, you must pay close attention to it to obey…
(Deu 28:1) And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth.
(Deu 28:2) And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
When you read the names of Jesus, one of them is the “Word.” Abiding in the Word of God is abiding in Jesus.
(Joh 1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
In my opinion, for believers one of the most important scriptures in the word is found in…
(Rom 10:17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
You hear and keep on hearing the Word of God. That is what makes faith. It does not tell us that faith comes by having heard. It comes from “hearing.” We must continue hearing. It is then that the head knowledge will drop down in our hearts and we will then have “heart knowledge” which will become faith. If you will look again at John 8:31-32, you see that you must continue in His Word. Continue hearing it and hearing it and hearing it and then you shall know the freedom creating truth of the Word of God.
Continuing in Christ also means abide continually in Him and allowing Him in you.
(Joh 15:7) If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
When you abide in Him, you are walking in your salvation. You wash your mind in the Word of God daily. You pray in your language and in the Holy Ghost. You act on His promises.

We may be seeing the start of the Revived Roman Empire taking place before our very eyes. The turmoil in North Africa, Syria, and elsewhere may bring it about. I know many people thought the present EU is the revived Roman Empire but the present EU really does not fit the spatial reality of the Old Roman Empire nor does it have its mothers violent nature.
Here is a map that shows the extent of the Old Roman Empire. Where there are dates on this map those regions were not part of the Roman Empire at the time of Jesus.
