Sil has an interesting point. The issue of"Works" is often misunderstood because the  the Jesus demonstrated Gospel is usually taught to be about salvation only. Jesus said He came to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom and demonstrated and discipled His followers that it was at hand when people were being healed, delivered (from demons) and raised from the dead. He also said that it would come in power while some of those present were still living (Pentecost) and continues to be the Way that His Kingdom is advanced in power, though more in foreign mission field than the US. It is the Good news of a way of life.
