Acts 9

            On his way to Damascus, Saul has a divine revelation of Jesus and is converted.

INSIGHT

            From God's perspective, the relationship between Christ and the church is a very close and dear one. Jesus is the Son of God; the church is His bride. To harm the church is to harm Christ. Though Paul never laid a hand on Him, Jesus spoke from heaven, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" (v. 4). Just as Paul did, we must strive to gain God's perspective on who we are. We are His bride, His chosen one, the delight of His life. When we see ourselves as He sees us, we can be more successful at living as we should.

PRAYER

Offer your praise to the Lord because He turns even the difficult things into good:

            Praise the Lord!

            Praise God in His sanctuary;

            Praise Him in His mighty firmament!

            Praise Him for His mighty acts;

            Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

            Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;

            Praise Him with the lute and harp!

            Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;

            Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!

            Praise Him with loud cymbals;

            Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

            Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

            Praise the Lord! (Psalm 150:1-6)

Pause for praise and thanksgiving.

Now pray this confession to the Lord as you seek to keep your life free from sin:

            Surely He has borne our grief

            And carried our sorrows;

            Yet we esteemed Him stricken,

            Smitten by God, and afflicted.

            But He was wounded for our transgressions,

            He was bruised for our iniquities;

            The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

            And by His stripes we are healed.

            (Isaiah 53:4-5)

Confess any sins that the Holy Spirit brings to your mind, and pray this affirmation to the Lord:

            You will keep him in perfect peace,

            Whose mind is stayed on You,

            Because he trusts in You. (Isaiah 26:3)

As you make your requests known to the Lord, include:

                        The renewing of your mind

                        The needs of your extended family

                        Your activities for the day

Close with the following prayer:

            Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

            All the days of my life;

            And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

            (Psalm 23:6)

Through prayer we can carry in our heart all human pain and sorrow, all conflicts and agonies, all torture and war, all hunger, loneliness and misery, not because of some great psychological or emotional capacity, but because God’s heart has become one with ours.

"Heavenly Father we ask your forgiveness. We know Your Word says, ’Woe on those who call evil good,’ but that’s exactly what we have done and we confess that:
• we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it pluralism.
• We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.
• We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
• We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation.
• We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
• We have neglected to discipline our children and called it self-expression.
• We have abused power and called it political savvy.
• We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition.
• We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
• We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, 0 God, know our hearts today, cleanse us from every sin and set us free in the Name of Your Son, the Living Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen."
What was the response of the legislators? Some of them walked out and expressed their outrage.
  AMEN

PRAYER

Our pride is mellowed when we see how Jesus humbled Himself for us. Praise Him for His love:

          O Lord, how manifold are Your works!

          In wisdom You have made them all.

          The earth is full of Your possessions— . . .

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;

          I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

          May my meditation be sweet to Him;

          I will be glad in the Lord.

          (Psalm 104:24, 33-34)

As you seek to keep your life free from sin, pray this confession to the Lord:

          O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself;

          It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.

          O Lord, correct me, but with justice;

          Not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing.

          (Jeremiah 10:23-24)

Confess any sins that the Holy Spirit brings to your mind.

Now pray this affirmation to the Lord:

          I will remember the works of the Lord;

          Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.

          I will also meditate on all Your work,

          And talk of Your deeds.

          (Psalm 77:11-12).

As you make your requests known to the Lord, include:

-- Faithfulness with your talents

--State and local leaders,

-- Your activities for the day,

-- Whatever else is on your heart.

Offer this closing prayer to the Lord:

          To Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen

Lord, You know the desires of the hearts of these people, even better than they know them themselves. Lord I pray You open the gates of Heaven and allow Your promises and Your blessings to be bestowed upon them, in Jesus' name.

He is the way

 All of my days
Because I have gone astray
My life in disarray
Lord now I pray
In you I want to stay
For you are the true way
In you I have found my way

We can get so busy working for God that we don't take the time to spend with God. It is so important that we take the time to come apart from the world, and spend time with the Father

Come into My Garden,
Rest awhile with me.
Enjoy the fragrant essence
Of fellowship so sweet.
Take time to relax in
The joy of my embrace,
Come apart and savor
Fathomless peace and grace.

I came into His Garden
It was so peaceful there.
The fragrance of His Presence
Dispelled my every care.
And as I rested there with Him
Refreshed I began to be.
And my soul began to soar on wings
Which through my fears, I could not see.
