Thirty-nine books that make up the Old Testament. Each book contains information about the life and history of the chosen nation of Israel. The Old Testament reveals to us the Mind of God. We discover His plans concerning the redemption of His people. One individual shall walk by faith. This newly established faith in the one true God will the basis for the chosen nation. It tells of the enslavement of the chosen nation as well as its deliverance. The chosen nation no longer wanted the One True Living God to rule over them. In other words, they wanted to become a democratic nation, and in the process, casting aside theocracy. This choice caused them to suffer extreme consequences. Their history was also was filled with captivity, wars and liberty. In the end, God sends prophets to warn them. If you read the prophets in chronological order, the warnings become worse and more severe. That is the importance of doing a biblical research on the prophetic book of Isaiah. Isaiah writes the most about the coming Messiah. This is why I have chosen to investigate Isaiah.

Permalink Reply by Pamela Kohl on March 12, 2012 at 1:09pm I know that I am repeating myself in many ways, but Jesus needs defending by us. We are not witnessing enough while the group known as 'higher criticism' is in the forefront of the news -- especially CNN. Tell me what is the view of CNN?
Hello Pamela, Jesus doesnt need us for anything. Although, you are so very right in us defending the name of JEsus and defending our faith at all costs. Very good message sis, God bless and keep up the good works... Love in Christ, Jodie
Permalink Reply by Pamela Kohl on March 15, 2012 at 4:35pm Jodie--I should have made myself clearer when I was talking about defending the gospel of Jesus Christ. I will miss you. I know that God has opened this door for a purpose just like He opened this door for me.

Permalink Reply by Pamela Kohl on July 15, 2012 at 7:34pm Okay...you say that Jesus doesn't need us for anything. What about the giftings? Are we not the Body and Bride of Christ? Yes, He needs us to be witnesses for Him. Does not the Bible teach that we have been commissioned to preach and teach the Word in our town, state and world? We are to speak the Word of Life in power and authority as ambassadors.
Permalink Reply by Bible Study Space on July 15, 2012 at 8:54pm God does not technically need anything from us, he existed "forever" before he made us.. but like many other things God does not need from us, he wants things from us.
Maybe he does not need defending, in the sort of protective sense, but consider:
We need to defend the faith...contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 3).
We are told to defend others....Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow....Isaiah 1:16.18
Perhaps the word defend is not used, but we are taught to defend ourselves.. in various ways where we have control. Shun evil, cling to good, etc. Protect ourselves, basically.
Without a doubt, one of our jobs as Christians is to teach others to defend the Gospel, the Truth, the Faith. God does not need us to do it for HIM, but for US!
Jesus did not need Peter to defend him, but he drew his sword in that effort.. not knowing of course the higher purpose of God in that moment. I admire him anyway!
If we love God, we will want to defend him against false teaching, apostacy, rumors and lies. God will withstand the attacks without our help. But will we, if we stop defending the Gospel?
The letter of Jude basically says "defend the truth".
