The Truth About the Sabbath

Hello! Welcome To this discussion on the "Sabbath" Soon, much sooner than you may think, this subject is going to become extremely important to everyone in our world, especially to every person who claims to be a christian!

Part 1 The Origin of the Sabbath

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Gen 1:1

Obviously, the place to start is at the beginning of the Bible! The very first book of the Bible tells us that God created the world we live on and our sector of the universe and this act was accompanied in six days, and then God chose to rest on the seventh day!

God said, "Let there be Light", and there was light, And God called the light Day, and the darkness night, and the evening and the morning were the first Day...   On the Second day He divided the waters above and below the firmament which God called heaven, then on the third day God created dry land and the seas and planted grass and trees---  On the fourth day God created the sun and the moon...  on the fifth day God brought forth birds and fish---   and then God made man and woman on the six day---   And then God blessed the seventh day and he rested on it!  Genesis 1:3-2:3

All the inhabitans of heaven and the universe watched this wonderous event take place...

The seventh day Sabbath Honors the Creator of our planet, our "Mother earth"!!

That's why God instituted this weekly event, so we would REMEMBER and honor THE CREATOR of mankind and our world!! (Read Exodus 20:11 and 31:17)

Day1 Work

Day2 Work

Day3 Work

Day 4 work

Day 5 Work

Day 6 Work

Day 7 No Work

The Sabbath commandment is the fourth commandment of the Lord's Ten Commandments---  It says, "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it Holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:  For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it." Exodus 20:8-11

God gave to Moses the Ten Commandments....*

... They were written with God's own hand!

They are the Lord's eternal and unchangeable laws! We are told not to murder, not to lie or steal, not to covet our neighbor's wife or belongings, not to commit adultery or worship images, nor take God's name in vain... we are to honor our parents, worship only God... And worship and rest on the Seventh-day Sabbath!! *Exodus 24:12, 31:18, and 32:15,16

Just which day of the week is the Seventh day of the week?

Saturday is the day of the week!! Was the weekly Sabbath Day ever intended for only the jewish people? No!

First, it was never called the jewish Sabbath day, it was always called "The Sabbath of the Lord thy God" !

Jesus said The Sabbath was made for man (Mark 2:27), that is, for the race, as the word "man" here is unlimited---  hence, the Sabbath is for the Gentile as well as the jews!

The Jewish nation did not even exist until 2,500 years after the Sabbath was made.

Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;

Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. Isaiah 56:6-7

Note: Ask any Jewish person and they will tell you without a doubt that Saturday is and always has been the Sabbath day!

Look at the layout of most modern calendars Saturday is still the day at the end of the week!

Now, does it make sense that men can come along and alter God's Ten Commandments? The Lord Himself blessed and sanctified the Seventh day, yet modern Christians ignore Saturday and worship on Sunday instead.

Lets put it this way: suppose your doctor officially told you that he'd see you each Monday for the rest of your life would you think it was right to change the appointment on your own accord merely because it was convenient with you, without ever receiving your doctor's approval? Would this work? No.

Or this: Say that your birthday was on January 7th, but you insisted on celebrating it on January 1st have you succeeded in actually changing your birth day just because you opt to celebrate it on another day? Of course not!! It is the same thing here with the Sabbath there are literally millions of christians who think that Sabbath has been legitimately changed from Saturday over to Sunday... But has it really?

Point:

The Bible is a collection of 66 separate writings, 66 separate Books, and from beginning to end, from Genesis to Revelation, the Holy scriptures speak constantly of the importance of God's Holy Sabbath! Every time we rest upon the seventh day, as God did at creation, we commemorate that grand event!!

Point:

The sevethday Sabbath was commanded by the voice of the Living God! (Deuteronomy 4:12,13)

Point:

It is the sign of the True God, by which we are to know him from false God's.

19 I am the Lord your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;

20 And hallow my Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God. Ezekiel 20:19-20

Point:

Instead of abolishing the Sabbath, Jesus carefully taught how it should be observed!... (Matt 12:1-13)

Well Saints that's the end of part 1 see you next time in part 2 of my next study Absolute proof from the Bible that Saturday is the Sabbath Day! See you next week! And always know that God really loves you.

First I would like to thank GOD for opening my eyes and ears to receive any holy knowledge. I pray that this exchange is exceptible in HIS sight. Ok since the calendar is a manmade calendar that came to pass way after creation occurred why is it not that calendar has Sunday in the wrong position and the first day of work week is Monday.

I enjoyed this study and I agree that the 7th day Sabbath was instituted by God in the beginning. I think people are caught up in the Grace of God that they don't realize that God does have expectations of us. I am about to read part 2 of this discussion and I am sure it will mention who changed the times and laws; as the bible strictly states we are not to change them.

Hi Amber Boland,

Please note that Monday is not the first day of week but Sunday is the first day of week and Saturday is the last day of week.

Throwing in the Red flag...

When a head coach on an NFL team perceives that the referee has made a wrong call, awarding a key play to the opposition, he throws out a red flag. This red flag signals that the referee needs to review the play again. Obviously the coach believes…See More
