I Peter 5:8-9
(1Pe 5:8 (NKJV)) Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (9) Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. (10) But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 1 Peter 5:8-10 (NKJV) |
We are to be sober. We must never be drunk off the wine of the enemy. The world is not our friend! We cannot serve God and mammon. We cannot love the world, and call ourselves disciples of Jesus at the same time. Beware because the enemy has many faces and disguises.
Your adversary [Satan, a roaring lion] walks like a roaring lion. Notice the word “like as” a roaring lion. He sounds like a “roaring lion,” but you are free from his intimidation because you are covered by the blood of Jesus. He can attempt to hurt you, but you have put on Christ. Where the blood of Jesus is, you are safe. If you listen to his roaring, then you put yourself in harm’s way.
Finally, you are not alone. Elijah thought he was the last prophet of God. God told him that there were 400 prophets who had not bowed to the enemy.
Do not bow…rise up and be what God has called you to be. The war is on, and you are a winner!

Permalink Reply by Ruby Haskins on September 18, 2012 at 2:36am I love nature shows, especially the animals. The large cats are usually heard roaring when they are hungry, thinking of setting off on a hunt or challenging another cat over a potential mate or his territory. They are capable of great speed for a short time or distance then have to stop for rest. Their coloration helps them blend in with their surroundings. Snakes aren't the only animal who can fade away into the grass.
We need to be vigilent, always remembering that Lucifer has lived several thousand years, some before he came to earth, so he has had more time to gather knowledge, cunning, wiles, deceit than mankind has. He's no weakling. The lion is one of natures strongest creatures. A lion moves silently through the grass or bushes concealed by them and his color. He slips on soft padded feet until as close to his prey as he can get then in a burst of speed he springs forth hoping to grasp the prey by the throat, no mercy.
Satan will stalk the weakest or youngest in christ among us. The babes, the old or injured are the easiest targets. We need always to be on the lookout. I saw one nature show where a mother elephant picked up a "hungry" lion with her trunk and shook and threw him against a large rock. She showed him who was really king of the jungle. We have a "real" king of the jungle looking out for us also. When we are surrounded by the jungles hungry critters, He's more than a match for the hungry hunters and we are His kids He cares for. Good post, Bless you, Sis.

Let us pray for all the non-believers.
Amen.

That is why we are forewarned to be on the alert when trials and darts attack us. We must keep our spiritual self fed with the Word of God. God bless...Pam Kohl

Permalink Reply by Pamela Kohl on September 20, 2012 at 6:50pm The power that he thinks he has comes from our fear of him. He can only do what God allows him to do. Remember Lucifer had to get permission from God to touch Job! What a wonderful God we serve. God knew Job's integrity, and he knew that Job would not deny Him. Can we be trusted by God to do the same thing?

Yeah he is a wiley one for sure.
But he has no power of himself .
It really bugs him that he can not kill us.
He is a trickster and a muse.
